MOAA Scholarship Fund Grant Programs
Our interest free loan program makes up the majority of our work, however students may be eligible to apply for grants if they meet the requirements or if they currently receive an interest-free loan from MOAA's Education Assistance program.
In conjunction with our interest free loans, the following grants are offered alongside loans to certain students who qualify. These grants do not require any repayment and are only available to qualified students.
Designated Scholar Program: No additional application is needed for consideration of this program. Eligible students are chosen receive a $500 grant named by the donor, which replaces that portion of the loan. To participate inn this program, students agree to correspond with the donor or their designee each fall.
Senior Grants: This application is open from January 1st-February 28th. Renewing students who will be rising seniors in the follow academic year will automatically have an extra application available to them when completing their renewal application on the login. If you believe that you are eligible to apply but do no see the application, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Recipients of Senior Grants become ineligible for further Educational Assistance programs.
The Education Assistance Grant Program provides grants to students who meet strict eligibility requirements. Due to limited funding, these grants may only be available in select years.
American Patriot Scholarship: Limited to students whose military parent has died on active service or receive Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (T-SGLI) payments. Currently, students receive scholarships of $7,000 each school year. Students should check this box on the application instead of the interest-free loan box if they think they qualify.
General John Paul Ratay Educational Fund Grants: These grants are limited to children whose military parent retired and subsequently died. Students qualifying for a loan who meet the criteria of a Ratay grant are automatically considered. Students who believe they are eligible for these grants and who do not receive a request for supporting documentation should email email@example.com. Due to limited funds, there is no designation on the application for this grant program as Ratay Grants are only awarded as funds allow.
Words cannot express my gratitude for the Senior Grant that [the Scholarship Fund has] provided me to complete my degree... The interest-free loans have been a blessing to me and my family and the grant that you have provided for my senior year has been particularly meaningful in many ways.
